Asian Matchmaking. Dating For Asians.

When speaking of Asians in the UK we tend to be referring to those with the ethnic origins of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.  In the USA on the other hand the term 'Asian' usually refers to people from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Burma.  For the purpose of this post we'll refer to the US version of the term since we'll be covering online dating for Indians, Pakistanis, etc. in other posts.

When it comes to online dating for or about Asians it can mean one of two things; sites designed to foster and encourage dating and friendship between people of the same ethnic background, or sites designed for those of other than Asian origins looking for a partner who is either living in the East or whose ethnic background is Asian.  Of course, some sites will cater for both, but if you have strong feelings either way then you'll need to test a few sites before you find the one that suits you best.

You will find that sites can vary a great deal, from those who offer a matchmaking service for western men looking for oriental brides, to those who provide a medium for professional and executive Asians in the West, and although these sites may have similar sounding names they couldn't be more different in their outlook and target market.  A site that brings together single, professional Asian men and women in London or San Francisco won't have much in common with a site designed to find a bride for single man of indeterminate means who has never been further east than Felixstowe.

If you're an incurable romantic then you'll probably be of the view that even 'mail order bride' sites can foster real romance and love even if these are not always the motivation for all the members of the site, but if you're more cynical then perhaps you view such sites of dubious integrity and with a lower standard of ethics, but who is anyone to judge?  Love can blossom in all kinds of places and for all sorts of reasons, and even if it's not a deep and intense love then companionship, affection and a mutually rewarding arrangement are sometimes the end result of such sites.
